At the club meeting on 5 July we went through how the escort group worked from January to June, at the Clalit clinic on Herzl Street and at Meuhedet on Ben Gurion Boulevard.

The arrangement is simple. A person calls on Monday and gives the date of the appointment, and we find an escort from their building or the one next door. The escort collects them, helps at the reception desk, waits by the doctor's door and writes the doctor's instructions on paper in large letters.
We pay for a taxi when the walk is longer than seven hundred metres or when the person uses a walker. Over six months that came to 46 rides, and the other 166 visits were done on foot or on the number 5 bus.
In the autumn we open a second direction: the same escort service to the dentist and for blood tests, with requests taken from 1 September on the same number, 08-671-4408.
The outcome
None of the 38 people missed a scheduled appointment in six months. Two of those who were escorted in winter now take neighbours from their own building.
