On 5 July the hall of the Agamim sports centre hosted an open mat for children aged 6 to 14. Five judo sections came from Ashkelon, Sderot and Kiryat Gat.

Four people judged: the section's coach Aviad Levi and three invited referees from the participating clubs. Bouts ran on two mats in the age groups 6 to 8, 9 to 11 and 12 to 14, and weights were checked in the morning before the start.
The medallists in each age group received medals, the other participants received certificates with their result. Water and fruit were brought by the parents, who also kept the weigh-in record.
There were no injuries and no withdrawals from the mat. The next open mat is planned for late November, after the belt gradings.
The outcome
Every child had at least two bouts, the programme fitted into three hours with no delays, and nine participants signed up for the section's groups after the event.
